Mallorybefore&afterMy name is Mallory Morrison and I am a 24 year old 5’2 female who has been a member of Fitness Functions for almost two years (since March 2014). Throughout my entire life I have always “yo yoed” in my weight and never had a “fit/toned body”. In college I would hardly eat to lose a certain amount of weight leading up to an event and then gain it all right back. Since I am short limbed and smaller framed I only did cardio type workouts because I was scared to lift weights thinking it would give me more bulk. When I graduated from The University of Alabama I remember looking in the mirror and not recognizing the person I saw due to weight gain. Around that time my mother and I had both decided that together we wanted to lose some weight and get into better shape when she heard about Fitness Functions through a friend.

We started working out with Sebastian 2 times a week, and I slightly changed my diet but not much. By month 4 I saw minimal to moderate change in my appearance and had lost around 15 pounds. I started seeing bigger changes when I started working out 3-4 times a week, 2 semi privates and 1-2 group classes depending on my work schedule along with getting more serious about my diet. By month 7 I had lost a total of 30 pounds and was seeing muscles I didn’t think I could ever have which in return made my body have more of a lean look. Since then, I have maintained my weight working out 2-3 times a week and watching my diet.

Throughout this process Sebastian was very creative in coming up with specific and new exercise routines for what my body needed to see results. Each workout session he focused on certain body parts and over time built up my strength/weight tolerance and made my exercises more and more aggressive. My energy level on a day to day basis has highly improved due to his all his hard work and motivation. I have loved the accountability of a trainer as well as getting in and out in 30 minutes and still being able to have a great workout. Sebastian is also always very flexible with my work schedule. Becoming a member of Fitness Functions has changed my life in the best way possible and I am forever grateful for all it has done for me.

“Almost two years ago, at the age of 75, my husband, Finlay was diagnosed with a very rare (5/100000) brain disorder called Corticobasal Degeneration or CBD. The initial symptoms are similar to Dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, but also include progressive loss of physical mobility and balance. His neurologist at UAB stressed the importance of him staying physically active. Since the mile walk he was already doing daily was only a linear motion our daughter Ann suggested working out at the gym with a personal trainer. Our neurologist stressed it needed to be consistent and with a well-qualified trainer. That was exactly what we found when Sebastian started working with Finlay. Sebastian has worked to develop routines for Finlay with excellent results to date. Sebastian has been able to help with his mobility and balance while increasing his strength and endurance. This has not only been challenging for Finlay, but also for Sebastian, since it is difficult for Finlay to “compute” oral instructions or even “hands-on” demonstrations and apply to his own physical actions. Sebastian has always shown patience and understanding, as well up-lifting encouragement and enthusiasm. After years of aerobic exercise classes and working out a gym, I decided to join Finlay in working out with Sebastian for the last six months. I feel more confident that I am now exercising in a way that is beneficial to my needs and without fear of injury. Finlay and I recommend Sebastian and Fitness Functions to anyone needing a special program of exercise, as well as a general well-rounded exercise program.”
